Tasting Room 

The center of any visit to Tarara is a stop in our Tasting room where our knowledgeable staff is eager to lead you on your next wine adventure. Here, you will sample a wide range of our current releases of classic and reserve Tarara wines. Whether your first time tasting or a seasoned connoisseur, you will find something new to explore in our enticing and relaxed setting.

With each sample, our staff will guide you through the tasting experience. They will help you identify flavors and aromas while describing the complexities of each vintage and offering recommendations for food pairings that will suit any palate. When planning your afternoon at Tarara, please note that the last wine tasting takes place a half hour before the winery closes.

Classic Taste of Tarara

A sampling of white, rose and red wines that introduce the broad selection that we have to offer. You will taste six wines that encompass the world-class winemaking tradition at Tarara. Reservations and advance payment are required for groups of 12 or more.

Premier Tasting Experience

An intimate, hour-long tasting of seven premium Tarara wines, including limited quantity and pre-release selections, in our board room overlooking orchards and Shadow Lake. Receive an elegant and informative glimpse into Tarara wine and Virginia winemaking from one of our wine specialists. Complete with an hors d'oeuvre pairing, this is a truly special wine experience. Tastings take place every Saturday at 12:30pm, 2:00, and 3:30. Reservations limited to parties of less than 8. Walk-ins welcome on a first come, first served basis.  $20.00 per person  Purchase tickets

For a more intimate experience in our Great Room, reserve a customized Private Tour & Tasting tasting led by a member of our congenial, experienced staff. Contact our Special Events department for more information.

After your tasting, enjoy a glass or bottle while fireside in the BacchusGallery, relaxing on the deck overlooking the river or picnicking beside Shadow Lake. We offer our guests a wide array of the freshest cheese, chocolate and treats that the Eastern Seaboard has to offer.
