General Questions:

What size reception can be held at Tarara?

A Lakeside reception can accommodate up to 200 people outdoors under a tent next to our Shadow Lake. Tent extensions can accommodate larger groups.

Will there be anyone on-site from Tarara on the day of the event?

Yes, a Tarara Special Events Coordinator will be on-site. Our job is to ensure the facility exceeds your expectations.

Will there be signs directing my guests on the property?

Yes, Tarara provides directional signage on the property for your guests to parking and wedding walkways. You may provide additional signage and balloons.

Are there any limits on the music?

You can use either a DJ or a band; both will stop playing at 11 pm. Decibel checks may be done in accordance with Loudoun County regulations.

Who supplies the service tables for my reception? (i.e. cake table, place card table, gift table, buffet tables)

Either the rental company or the caterer provides service tables.

Can I decorate for my wedding?

Yes, decorations can be placed with prior arrangements and removed at the end of the evening.

Payments:

What does Tarara require for securing a wedding date?

At contract signing, a $1000 deposit is due. This deposit is 75% refundable only if the date is cancelled within 15 days of signing the contract. A completed Credit Card Authorization form will be kept on file.

When are the final payments due?

The Wedding Facility Rental final payment is due sixty days prior to your event.

When do I pay for the bar bill?

The wine consumed will be inventoried the night of the event and a final bill will be given to the person you designate. The payment for the wine and any other extras incurred will be due the day of the event.

What happens if I cancel my reception?

If you cancel your reception before the final payment is due, you forfeit the deposits you have made. If you cancel after the final payment is due, no refund will be offered.

Where do I get a Marriage License?

Parking:

Where will my guests park?

Typically, guests park in the winery's main parking lot. For a Lakeside reception, guests can park in the grass near the lake. The Pavilions at Tarara each have their own parking areas. You also have the option of hiring a Valet Service for your parking. Your caterer should be able to provide Valet Service referrals.

Does Tarara have handicapped parking available?

Yes, handicapped parking is available.

Catering:

Does Tarara have an in-house caterer?

No, you may use any licensed caterer of your choice. We have a preferred caterer list for your convenience. The caterers on this list have all worked with Tarara. If you choose to use a caterer not on the Tarara list, we require a copy of the catering company's catering license and Tarara Winery must be listed as additional insured. We recommend caterers who have not worked at Tarara Winery to please schedule an appointment to familiarize themselves with the facility.

When can my caterer arrive?

Caterers may arrive two hours prior to the event.

How late can my caterer stay?

One hour after your event is finished.

Who provides all of the linens, china and glassware for my wedding?

Your caterer needs to provide all of these items. You can use Tarara Wine glasses at a rental cost of $.40 each. You may also want to purchase Tarara wine glasses ($2.00 each) as favors, or explore having glasses etched for your day. Please click here for more details.

Alcohol:

Are there requirements regarding alcohol at my wedding?

Yes, if serving wine, it must be Tarara wine. Discounts are applied to case purchases. This case can be a mixed case.
*Due to high demand and a limited supply, quantity discounts do not apply to Reserves, Cabernets and Special Releases.

Is there a corking fee?

No, Tarara does not charge a corking fee. You will only be charged for the wine bottles that are opened, and you will take with you bottles that are not emptied.

Can I have beer and/or Champagne at my wedding?

Yes, either you or your caterer must provide the beer and/or Champagne for your event. You or your caterer must provide Tarara with a copy of an ABC Banquet License. You will need to remove all beer at the end of the evening. No kegs, please.

Where do I get the ABC Banquet License?

Can I serve wine to my guests as they are arriving for the reception?

Yes, typically with this request you provide one selection of pre-poured wine for your guests. An extra fee may be applied for this service.

Can I have Hard Liquor at my wedding?

No, hard liquor is not permitted at Tarara.

Who provides the bartenders for my wedding?

Tarara provides the bartenders for your reception. The cost of bartenders varies for the number of guests at your reception. If desired the bartenders can serve all of your drinks from the bar (alcohol and non-alcoholic). Bartending charges are $20 per hour per staff person. The bartenders are scheduled 2 hours prior to event and one hour after. 1 bartender is typically scheduled for 50 guests, 2 for 100 - 149, and 149 requires more. The Tarara Event Coordinator reserves the right to add additional staff depending on individualized set up and service requirements.

Lakeside Reception:

What do I need to rent in the Lakeside Reception?

You need to rent the tents (reception and caterers tents), sidewalls, tables (dining and service), chairs, lighting and a dance floor if desired.

Where do I rent tents, tables and chairs?

We recommend Capital Party Rentals (Carol Wilks 703-278-8300). Various other items are available for aesthetics and elegance.

Are there outdoor restroom facilities?

Yes, outdoor portable restrooms are available. You may upgrade these facilities for an additional fee.

Is there electricity available for my vendors to use?

Yes, there are both indoor and outdoor outlets available. All vendors are responsible for supplying their own extension cords.
